ECR Engines Earn First & Third in Daytona Nationwide Race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 13, 2010) -- Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines powered Kevin Harvick Incorporated drivers Tony Stewart to victory and Kevin Harvick to a third-place finish in the February 13 Drive4COPD 300 NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Daytona International Speedway.

ECR Engines also powered Harvick to victory in last Saturday’s Budweiser Shootout driving Richard Childress Racing’s No. 29 Shell-Pennzoil Chevrolet Impala.

Stewart, driving the No. 4 Ritz Crackers Chevrolet Impala, led three times for 37 laps, including the final 25 of the 120-lap Nationwide Series season opener. Harvick led early on, holding the top spot from lap six through lap 42.

“It was another great day for ECR Engines,” said Richie Gilmore, chief operating officer for Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines. “I heard a number of drivers racing around Tony and Kevin were bragging on the engines. There’s nothing like momentum so, hopefully, we can keep it going in tonight’s Truck Series race and into tomorrow for the Daytona 500.”

Richard Childress Racing’s John Wes Townley was caught up in a 12-car accident midway through the race. The No. 21 Zaxby’s Chevy sustained damage to the right-front of the car and Townley eventually finished two laps down in the 23rd position.
