ECR Powers Two of Championship 4 Xfinity Series Contenders

November 8, 2024 (WELCOME, N.C.) – ECR Engines has a legitimate chance of adding to its long and storied record book in the NASCAR Xfinity Series this weekend as two Welcome, North Carolina-based drivers vie for their career-first championship utilizing ECR horsepower. For everyone in Welcome, all eyes are on Austin Hill and AJ Allmendinger this weekend.

“It’s really significant for us because it gives us that affirmation that we are doing things right and we are being consistent,” said Matthew Wiles, vice president and chief operating officer of ECR. “Not only with the engines, but the vehicles that we are helping to prepare. We’re proud of all our partners, but especially our on-campus teams, so we want to wish them good luck.”

ECR has had a tremendous 2024 season so far, racking up 9 wins and leading more than 700 laps in Xfinity Series competition. Two resounding stars in the ECR driver lineup have certainly been Richard Childress Racing’s Hill and Kaulig Racing’s Allmendinger. The duo gives ECR a 50/50 chance at clinching a championship this weekend.

Hill will make his first Championship Four appearance at Phoenix Raceway on Saturday, November 9, alongside Crew Chief Andy Street. Street and Hill have vied for a chance to win it all since Hill’s first full-time appearance with RCR in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2022.

“I’ve always said that I just want a shot,” Hill said at Martinsville Speedway. “If you can do that like we’ve done, you have a 25% chance of winning the championship. We’re going to keep our head down this whole week, do a lot of prep work. It’s a stout group that we have to go up against. We have to bring our A game, give it all we got and hope it’s enough.”

Hill’s 2024 season has been highlighted by four race wins, one pole win, 11 top five finishes, 19 top-10 finishes, and 240 laps led. Hill started off the season strong winning the season opener at Daytona and clinching the second race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Hill managed to go on and sweep Atlanta after winning the Fall race as well.

Kaulig Racing’s Allmendinger also has a chance at a championship this weekend, marking his second Championship 4 appearance.

“I’ve been very fortunate, especially what I call my second life here in NASCAR with Kaulig Racing, is the fact that I have people that believe in me that think that I can help the program whatever that is Xfinity/Cup,” said Allmendinger in an interview on The Dale Jr. Download.

While strategy plays a huge role in making it to the Phoenix finale, a little luck goes a long way, and so does a lot of skill and preparation. Both drivers have been using all of the resources at their fingertips to prepare for the chance of a lifetime this weekend, whether that be through SIM time, analytics or watching film from previous races at Phoenix Raceway.

“All at ECR Engines are wishing Austin Hill and AJ Allmendinger best of luck this weekend! Bring a Championship back to Welcome,” said Bob Fisher, senior vice president, ECR Engines.

The championship weekend action at Phoenix Raceway will begin on Friday November 8 with NASCAR Xfinity Series practice at 5 p.m. ET on USA Network. Saturday’s qualifying is set for 4 p.m. on USA Network, followed by the green flag which the field will take shortly after 7:30 p.m. ET on The CW Network.
